Slap on a Nordstrom's boys' slap watch. 8 springy colors. The band's plenty big. Why should boys have all the fun?

On this first day of spring, Fashion Feline received an urgent message:
Dear FF, I'm leaving for the beach for spring break, and I need an affordable cover-up for my bikini! --Nikki Dear Nikki, How much cover-up do you need? Here are two options, available online or at Swim 'n Sport stores located in many malls. Sand, water--Meow! Have a great break! --FF <^..^> I love this little work shirt that I picked up at a GAP store. It might need ironing, but it's super lightweight and soft enough to tie it at the waist. Love the feminine color and long sleeves that can be folded to three-quarter length.
Last year I was wearing mostly solid tops and bottoms; now I like to mix it up with a print on bottom or on top. What one thing you shouldn't skimp on?
Belts. Get leather or they wear out FAST. Leather belts look good even when they are worn out. Free People has leather belts at good prices. What are you wearing that's green today?
Our last stop on the Spring Break Tour of the Boutiques is on the charming and mostly undiscovered Main Street in Old Littleton, Colorado. Wander down Main Street, and you'll find two spice stores, a candy shop, fine wines, a knitting store, nice restaurants, and several boutiques peddling everything from home decor accessories to handmade goods to clothes. Details Boutique and Blue Ruby Boutique have been voted Best Women's Boutique and Top of the Town respectively. Both carry a variety of designer labels for all price ranges including the Tulle line at Details and Scout insulated bags at Blue Ruby--great for the beach, a new baby, or a gift. Items from both labels are also available online.
Our next stop is at Decade boutique, located amidst the retro, mod, and antique shops of south Broadway. Decade features retro furniture and lamps, baby gifts, lingerie, skin care products, and unique jewelry and clothes. Here you'll find Angie Clothes (www.angieclothes.com), my new favorite designer. You can purchase a limited selection Angie's clothes online and at Dillard's. In its simplicity and dropped back hem, this dress below by Angie seems remarkably similar to me to the style of an Eileen Fisher dress. Our first stop is at the Soul Haus boutique along hip uptown 17th Avenue in Denver, Colorado.
Soul Haus features men's, women's, and unisex clothing, jewelry, stationery, gifts, and bags like this adorable messenger bag above, also available online. Soul Haus also carries Synergy Organic Clothing skirs and dresses like these ones below, also available online. Anthropologie carries a passel of tops with intriguing back details like sheer panels and cut-aways. This top looks simple from the front but then startles with its lovely back lace. It just went on sale today. It may be a must- have.

“Help! I’m on my way to an imp. client meeting, & I just realized I can't wear this blouse! I have about half an hr to spare. What should I do?? –Frantic Friend” Dear Frantic Friend, If I were Super Kitty, I would fly to your location right now and bring you a new top! Meanwhile, if you've ruled out all the creative options like turning your blouse back-to-front, I say use this event as an opportunity to buy something new! It’s a little like being on vacation and having to buy an umbrella. Is there a store you’ve been wanting to check out somewhere between you and work? A dream come true would be there's something you've been wanting anyway and this gives you a reason to buy it. Or is there a Target nearby? I really love this shirt below I found in a Target boys' department that looks much like a J. Crew chambray shirt but costs $12.99. The large and xtra large are as big as any women’s shirts, and I plan to wear it as a bottom or top layer or main event, possibly belted. If it were me, I wouldn’t feel too bad about buying a shirt on impulse. Though the client might not notice whatever's wrong with your current shirt, you want to feel good about yourself. How much is that worth to you? Good luck! --Meow! |
