From a distance the graves in the Fort Logan cemetery look alike. But if you come a little closer, you'll see that each person is remembered differently. How would you want to be remembered?

"Well, I do notice women's shoes & tights while they're in the dental chair because Today I was posed with the age-old question: what should I wear to the dentist? The choice is no easy matter. After all, you want to convey the impression that even if your teeth don't look so good, you've got it together in other areas of your life (even if your life is a mess).
You may be tempted to dress younger than your age, but don't bother. They know your age. In general, they know a lot more about you than you do about them. Make-up? Absolutely. Remember they've got a magnifying glass on you! They WILL notice your shoes, so make sure they're in decent shape.
Additional factors to consider: you may be tempted to carry bags of things to do with you to the dentist. The long hiatus in the waiting room does seem like a perfect place to start your taxes. But resist! You're only going to end up reading Better Homes & Gardens in the waiting room anyway. And where are you going to put all those bags once you're in the operating room? You'll look much more put together if you just carry one outfit-coordinating, high style bag. In the end, the goal is to arrive and depart cool, calm, & put together. These same guidelines apply to doctors' visits of almost any kind and also when accompanying someone else to the doctor. You may also like... I don't regret wearing the orange polyester jumpsuit with a yellow turtleneck for my 4th grade photo day. I don't regret (too much) that I wore all white for a college award ceremony & for a scholarship interview (I was in an all-white phase). I do regret that I spent $12 on shipping a pair of ankle boots from ebay just now & then spent another $16 to return them. A twinge in my foot as I walked to the bus stop the other day reminded me of another shoe regret from the past... I was so glad to wear for the first time this lovely dress (below) from Indonesia that my friend Chadijah had given me. I was going out to lunch & had chosen the only sandals I had at the time that I thought might look nice with it: some not-so-comfortable strappy black heels. I ended up having to park a ways from the restaurant, & by the time the walk there & back was over, I had strained my foot. I spent the next several weeks in a boot far less attractive then my ugliest shoes :-) Lesson learned: always wear comfortable boots if you'll be walking around! Do you have any clothing regrets, recent or past? Sequins, cashmere, velvet, lace--do you think one dressed-up tee might take us through the holiday season? (great gifts too) Sequiny Cashmere Velvet Lace and sheer My skin & hair care? Not enviable. But my dear friend Sarita tagged me, so here's the dirt on my beauty routine. Name a beauty routine you rarely do. Ha ha! Get my hair cut! I only cut it once or twice a year. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly? No. Then they'd be all wet. How long will you last with chipped nail polish? In college, red nails were my signature. But now I wear my nails natural (unpolished) & "active length."
