These are the clothes I didn't pack for the short trip I didn't take... The color palette I'd planned for was neutrals, pink, & gray. I figured that way everything would match everything else. These colors seem lovely for spring. Here are a bunch more examples of them paired together... a couple sold-out favorites... pink, white, khaki... with a touch of blue...

I didn't buy peplum when it first came out, did you? One, I couldn't find anything I liked that wasn't too expensive. Two, there was some question--especially for shorter women--if it might (gasp, sigh) make us look fat. But peplum is popping up again this season, & it seems to have softened its lines & become more wearable, less airplane-wings-like. I've ordered a couple of these tops. I'll be reporting back to let you know if they work out! Do you own any peplum? Has it worked out well for you? But now it's back in crazy colors as well as traditional red. Please don't ask me the difference between tartan & plaid--seems a heated debate brews about this topic--I just think it's more crissy-crossy than plaid. This one might be plaid, not tartan :-) So would you wear it? Beaches, best friends, and bars. I recently took a vacation with my dear friend Tami to Miami! Before I left, I ordered the GEO Leather 10 necklace from the hip, creative genius of Allie Oliver-Burns, the founder and jewelry designer of PoseManikin (www.posemanikin.com). Within a couple days, a beautifully decorated envelope arrived containing my new leather and metal necklace along with a handmade card made just for me. PoseManikin's GEO designs of leather and metals feel both natural and edgy and move easily from sea to sand, from neutrals to tribal prints, from day to night. As I packed, I realized the GEO Leather 10 was the only necklace I'd need for this trip.
My vacation started as I put on the GEO Leather 10 with my neutral travel outfit: Four hours later, it was wonderful to run out onto the beach! I wore my Body Central kimono dress for cocktails and dinner. I flipped the GEO Leather 10 necklace over to create a solid color to go with my patterned dress. The next day Tami and I went out to lunch on the Lincoln Road Mall. The GEO Leather 10 necklace went perfectly with my tribal-print dress from Fossil. Tami tried on the necklace too with her white Victoria's Secret sundress. Our last night I pulled out my favorite Urban Outfitters Staring at the Stars Ever After dress. I love fringe! So I loved how the fringe on the hem of my dress and my scarf is picked up by the fringe on my GEO Leather 10 necklace. Since I've been home, I wear my GEO Leather 10 necklace all the time--today with a black crewneck sweater and white skinnies, last weekend with a t-shirt, a long wrap cardigan, and jeans. It really does seem to go with everything and adds a bit of edge and interest to my outfits. I'm in love with all PoseManikin's GEO leather collection and want more! I told Allie, creator of PoseManikin, about my love of this collection and about this article, and she offered us the exclusive contest opportunity. Just tell us your #1 fashion travel item--either below in a comment or on the OMF Facebook page, and you could win the amazing GEO16 Leather necklace and a mystery piece of jewelry to share with a friend or to keep. Do it now because we're closing the contest in 3 days, Wednesday night, March 27, 2013, at midnight. I wish I could enter! At the moment, I have my eye on the GEO12 necklace...
I'm eager to get ready for spring with a chambray shirt to pair with printed skirts I already have. Love toning down dressy skirts with denim but staying appropriate for work. I'd rather not have pockets on the shirt. I'm thinking I may try a men's chambray shirt in S or XS to save money. Look closely at this beautiful photo, and you'll see the model is wearing two belts! It's hard to find belts that cinch at the waist. I love both of these colorful ones below, and I love the idea of belting our dresses too!
Do you remember the magazine covers with celebrities in varying shades of denim? About 5 years ago I donated all my denim shirts and kept but one dark jean jacket. But at H&M last week, I found a great denim dress for $34.95. My friend that I was shopping with said her mom had worn a similar dress in the '70s. The fit is different today than 5 (or 40) years ago--not so boxy, close-cut sleeves. Denim feels good and flatters everyone; I say welcome back to my closet.
