I woke up one morning & thought I need a sleeveless black turtleneck. I was surprised I didn't already own one. Wouldn't it be ideal for all black outfits, skirts, casual, you name it this fall? Maybe it would even transition into winter, & surely I could pull it back out in the spring. I thought classic, essential.
So I started watching out for them, & pretty much every store is carrying them. Most are around $40. They come in various lengths & materials. The one I most wanted was from J. Crew Factory for $39, but I wasn't ready to pay that much, & within days it sold out in most sizes anyway.
For something so basic, I headed over to the online thrift store thredUP. I found dozens of them there, most very inexpensive. I chose two--the first one from Moda Intl. looked like it might be too tight or short; the second one is made of cotton, so that seemed good. I had a 10% off coupon, which made the prices even lower, but both were Final Sale, non-returnable.

But while I was waiting for the thredUP t-necks to arrive, the one I liked from J. Crew Factory went on sale for 40% off, which brought it down to $20.99 with free shipping, & now they had my size. Of course, it was on Final Sale, my most hated shopping option. But I went ahead & ordered it anyway, definitely feeling guilty!

So what have we learned...?
Well, my favorite is the cheapest one. I didn't need to buy the others. New is not always better than used.
