Minor upgrades and a reboot

3/7/2013

I have a weakness for the same basic outfit--black or dark denim, a berry-colored top, a gray cardigan--so I continue to buy the same pieces again and again when I see them at a good price so that the colors stay bright, the top doesn't have pilling--the "uniform" is a little freshened up. Do you re-purchase the same basic items sometimes?

Minor upgrades

Before

Picture
The old outfit--still nice but if you were closer, you could see the pilling and minor stains. The top (Banana Republic) has also shrunk a little. Tulle sweater, VS pants

After

Picture
New outfit--a little newer, not shrunk yet, no pilling. Garnet Hill top, Tulle sweater, VS pants
Picture
Keeping the old but adding an upgrade
Here are the new items:
Picture
Victoria's Secret The Christie Fit Flare Pant, $49.50
Picture
Garnet Hill Goddess Knit Top, $38 (I got it as a sale of the day for $18)
Picture
Tulle Long Sleeve Cardigan, $32.50

And a reboot!

It's also past half season--time to polish my boots!

Yes, pretty much the same for me ! black tights or leggings, a long line top, a cosy jumper as most of my work is at home on the computer.

That outfit sounds nice. You are in the U.K, I can tell by your "jumper" (vs. sweater) and British spelling of "cosy." It's nice to think we're wearing similar things across such a large ocean :-)

Josie, cute article...I think we all have our version of our "uniform", an outfit that we are most comfortable wearing. Your boots look great! What did you use to polish them?

Thanks so much, Deanna! I just used the Kiwi polish like you get at any store--nothing fancy. Thank you so much for visiting my site and for commenting!

Yes, I didn't realize I was doing that until you pointed it out! For me it used to be red tops, black pants. But purple is the new red and brown is the new black, so now I have a bunch of purple tops and brown capris! I try to change it up for my husband's sake LOL!

I have had a tendency to continue to replace certain items in my wardrobe. But, in the last few years I've decided that it's time to step out of my comfort zone regarding how I dress and try some new pieces. I actually love some of the print tops and other new things I've gotten. I will try on something I would not usually consider buying to see how it looks. You never know unless you try different things.

Yes! You are spot on with this post, Josie :-) I often buy the same look, but my styles tend to vary depending on my mood. Sometimes I get hooked on the long bohemian dresses and skirts, and sometimes, it's classic knee length straight skirts and solid tops. Of course, we ladies can always accessorize to perk up any staple outfit. xo

Thank you so much for visiting this post, Sarita! I love both of your staple looks and the idea that we change our look based on our mood--what fun is dressing otherwise? :-) Love to you!
