It's rare that I buy anything that I'm not at least a little in love with--even if my love is sometimes misguided. So it's always a bit hard for me to part with anything, although I'm also cutthroat and do it every day.
But sometimes I start to pine for the things I've let go.
I’ve even gone back to the store to try to repurchase the exact same item I just returned before they send it back to the company or sell it to someone else.
Yesterday I was thinking about two items that got away. One was a very reasonably priced Anthropologie cardigan/jacket. It was the most milky oatmeal color and made of a knit almost like a sweatshirt. Covered it layers and tucks and folds, it was both structured and free flowing—such a cool mix of casual and dressy. I returned it, but I’d like it back now please.
The other item was a GAP skirt with a tiny floral print. Its base was light yellow. I returned it (Why???) and then later went back to the store to repurchase it—but it was gone.
Oddly, like so many memories from the past, I can only remember the good things about these items, not the bad.
Why did I let them go?
